The WHITE House may deprioritize trade commitments with the UK following a US court ruling that nullified former President Trump’s 10% global tariffs. While sector-specific duties on steel and automobiles remain unchanged, the decision injects fresh uncertainty into bilateral negotiations.

A non-binding agreement signed May 8 between President TRUMP and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer proposed reducing US car tariffs from 27.5% to 10%, but requires formal implementation. "Everything is pretty chaotic," noted David Henig of the European Center for International Political Economy. "This will cause more confusion in an already complex approval process."

The ruling comes as UK exporters face prolonged uncertainty. Trade analysts warn the judicial setback could delay tariff relief for British steel and automotive sectors, with many decisions requiring direct presidential authorization.
